Padre Pio Academy News for July 5, 2020
The Padre Pio Academy “Summer in the City Yardsale is only two weeks away, Saturday, July 18!!! Everyone’s been aching to void their garage of boxfuls of used but workable toys, books and tools; Aunt Zelda’s kitchenware and wardrobe and, well, you name it! The Yardsale Police have really been on the warpath lately about incoming donations, and since it’s been awhile, we ought to examine the rules. All clothing must be clean and wearable – not repairable – “wearable”! Tools, appliances and electronics must function as they were designed. Kitchen and dinnerware must be clean, whole and entire. Toys, clean too and workable. Lamps, tables, mirrors and other household furniture all welcome, BUT, NO couches or sofas at all – they simply do not sell and we have to slice them and dice them to get them into the trash bin. And once again, [“Oh no, pleeeze don’t say it again…”] Sorry, gotta, Police Orders – NO underwear!!! If you have your donations with you today, please stack them in Fr. Schell Hall near the goods already present. If the Hall is locked when you come, secure them neatly in the breezeway or at the rear. Or if you plum-forgot your goods today, there’s still next week or any time in between. Now, suppose you’re a clever shopper and already know what great deals are found here. Then, you’ll want to arrive as the sun breaks the horizon, grab a hot cuppa joe and shop away your little pea-pickin’ heart!!!
The OLHC 2020 Census was an enrollment success, many thanks to all participants!!! There were many, many updates to the current information sheets as well as a hundred or so new registrations. Also, there were 66 electronic responses to the QR code; all in all, we had a good day. Now to compile the information for Monsignor! If you missed out, the QR code will remain active for the time being. Find it on the Chapel door, scan it and submit at your leisure.
The bishops of the United States, on May 17, 1846, proclaimed the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of her Immaculate Conception, the principal patroness of the entire country. A prayer to the Immaculate Conception: O pure and immaculate and blessed Virgin, who art the sinless Mother of thy Son, the mighty Lord of the universe, thou who art inviolate and altogether holy, the hope of the hopeless and sinful, we sing thy praises. We bless thee as full of every grace, thou who didst bear the God-Man: we all bow low before thee; we invoke thee and implore thine aid. Rescue us O holy and inviolate Virgin, from every necessity that presses upon us and from all the temptations of the devil. Be our intercessor and advocate at the hour of death and judgement; deliver us from the fire that is not extinguished and from the outer darkness; make us worthy of the glory of thy Son, O dearest and most clement Virgin Mother. Thou indeed art our only hope most sure and sacred in God’s sight, to whom be honor and glory, majesty and dominion for ever and ever world without end. Amen. (An indulgence of 3 years.) Please pray for the USA!*
