Padre Pio Academy and Chapel Closure News for August 2, 2020

Celebrating 38 Years of Catholic Tradition in Education

CLOSED, Please Call Again!!! A sign from your favorite restaurant? No, it applies to Our Lady Help of Christians for the upcoming week, Monday August 3 through Saturday August 8. We are CLOSED because of the installation of a new roof and solar electric equipment on the Chapel and Father Schell Hall. What does this mean to you? 1) After the 12:30 Mass today, the Chapel is CLOSED for preparation – no one is permitted inside. 2) There will be NO daily Mass. 3) There will be NO confessions. 4) There will be NO evening devotions. 5) There will be NO visits to the Blessed Sacrament – all throughout the course of the week. This Chapel will be OPEN again next Sunday and beyond for the usual Masses and all the typical events. We apologize for the inconvenience, but know this work will sustain us for many, many years to come. If you want to help, clean-up begins Saturday at noon.

During the week without Mass, make an Act of Spiritual Communion. Here is one such composed by Raphael Cardinal Merry del Val, Secretary of State to Pope Saint Pius X: “At Thy feet O my Jesus, I prostrate myself and I offer Thee the repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness in Thy holy presence. I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, the ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling that my heart offers Thee. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental Communion, I wish to possess Thee in spirit. Come to me O my Jesus, since I, for my part, am coming to Thee! May Thy love embrace my whole being in life and in death. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee. Amen.” Here is another composed by St. Alphonsus Maria Ligouri: “My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee Sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though Thou wert already there, I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee; permit not that I should ever be separated from Thee.” [Per the Raccolta, “The faithful who make an act of spiritual Communion, using any formula they may choose, there is granted – an indulgence of 3 years; A plenary indulgence of once a month on the usual conditions, when the act is performed every day of the month. S. P. Ap., March 7, 1927”] St. Alphonsus was commemorated in the Mass today, his feast day, to whom Dom Columba Marmion applied these words: “When one truly loves God, one desires that He be loved, that His name be hallowed, His Kingdom come in souls and His will be done in us: Sanctificetur nomen tuum, adveniat regnum tuum. The soul that truly loves God, deeply resents the injuries that are done to the object of its love. It suffers at seeing the empire of the prince of darkness extended by sin; for Satan “as a roaring lion goeth about seeking whom he may devour”.
