In Solidarity by Rev. Fr. L. Stephen Galambos, o.f.m.
The Bishop of Manchester, NH, the Most Reverend Peter Libasci, is asking his faithful for a day of “…fast and partial abstinence (meat may eaten at only one meal) in solidarity of faith for the sins that have brought us to this deteriorating condition of war and civil unrest.” Bishop Libasci outlines in his letter the problems plaguing our world, nationally and internationally, including civil unrest, the attacks in Nice, and the attempted coup in Turkey, to name a few.
As a show of solidarity with the bishop and the people of the Diocese of Manchester, our Franciscan Provincial, Fr. Robert is suggesting that Friday, August 12, the day proposed by the bishop, those among us who are able, should participate in this day of fasting and prayer.”
