Answering the Question: Growing in Holiness?

Jesus gives us answer.

Those who hunger for holiness will be satisfied. Begin by taking the Gospels up. Listen each day to His words. 10 minutes a day – to nourish your soul. Every day. It will take an effort to follow through.

An Act of Self Denial

Deny yourself. A central teaching of Our Lord Jesus. The world does the opposite. You hear in so many ways, people saying, “go for it, satisfy yourself. “Unless you deny yourself, you can not be My disciple, accepting daily the crosses God sends us. Self denial is the hallmark of authentic Christians Catholics. This means that we really believe what Jesus taught us:

“Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.”

Meekness and humility are the powers of the soul, and especially humility. Humility is not weakness but power. These powers are signs of holiness, which answers the question, as to how to grow in holiness? Holiness is humility, not easy, but that is why with God’s gift of Grace, it merits and earns Heaven.

Because Pride is part of our fallen human nature, we must overcome our pride with humility. God resists the proud, but He bends to the humble.

Jesus told us, unless you all change and become humble, no one can go to Heaven. This means learning and doing not our own selfish will, but God’s Will.

Self-denial, in both loving God and others, opens one to LOVE without selfishness, Jesus’ central teaching.

When a disciple asked, “will many be saved?” Jesus answered, try to enter by the narrow path, == meaning self-denial, == for wide is the road that leads to damnation, and many walk it, but narrow is the path that leads to Salvation, and FEW find it.  Many will try to enter but will not be able”. “Many are called, but few are chosen, Jesus said.”Few seek holiness, for few listen to Christ call, who desires the salvation of all. Holiness needs doing God’s will,

“The works of God is faith in Jesus Christ.” Jn 6:29.

1. Reading helps to know our faith, encourages practicing our HOLY Faith.
2. Praying is necessary, our way to follow Our Lord and the only Savior, Jesus Christ.
3. We all weak humans stumble, get discouraged, we need Jesus’ healing and strength by WEEKLY CONFESSION, SINCERE, TRUTHFUL AND COMPLETE, NOTHING left out.May Mary, Mother of Christians guard you and lead you to Christ, our model and source of holiness, With prayers for you and for your family, — Fr. Stephen, o.f.m.
